Why TF would I keep jewellery from an ex?!

If I kept every necklace, bracelet and earring set from every friend, boyfriend and situation-ship I've ever been in, I'd be walking around like Rick Ross.

It feels like it's a no brainer, and I'm not sure who needs to hear this, but throw that piece of jewellery in the bin. Or better yet, sell it on Vinted, and make a lil change.
Jewellery holds energy and memories. Fair enough not all memories are bad, but past a certain point, you too deserve to forget what was, whether good or bad, in order to make space for what is still yet to come.
Sure it's pretty, but you'll find prettier things.
Again, I'm not sure who I'm talking to in this post, but consider if the trinket around your neck or on your finger keeps bringing your mind back to a certain time with a certain someone; and if the goal is to let go; then maybe the answer is hanging onto one of your precious limbs. A constant reminder of the weight that, rightly so, got left behind, but still attached like an un-lucky charm.
Having said that, when was the last time you bought yourself a beautiful piece of jewellery to congratulate yourself or to commemorate a milestone in your life? I ask this because you can't break up with or be without yourself, so consider the intimate act of adorning yourself with meaningful jewels as a celebration of you, from you.
In a recent conversation with a friend, we spoke about how as women, we often wait for others to get us jewellery. An engagement ring to solidify a commitment, a necklace on valentines day to express ones feelings, a tennis bracelet in celebration of a of a birthday. Maybe I'm late to the party on this one, but I will defiantly be making a point of sealing my achievements in sterling silver in the new year.
The next time you catch yourself absent-mindedly touching that old necklace or ring, ask yourself whether it still belongs in your story. If the answer is no, let it go. Donate it, sell it, recycle it. And when you’re ready, choose something beautiful just for you. Not as a replacement, but because you are the longest relationship that you'll ever be in.
